Position Responsibilities

OVERALL ROLES/RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Lead engagement for AWA in North America with Toyota (TMNA) in their Plano, TX campus to support sales and planning for mass production OE business.
  • Support Sales and Sales Planning in AWA with information gathering, research, analyses, and reports for current and future business plans.

DETAIL TASKS/ACTIVITIES:

The incumbent is expected to perform the following functions that the company has determined are essential to this position:

  • TMNA Hearing Report - Sales & Production (bi-lingual monthly): meet with TMNA Plano Supply & Demand Management and assess current sales and production situation, issues, inventory, trends, upcoming Toyota plant changes that may impact AISIN, and make bi-lingual meeting report and share.
  • TMNA Variance Reasons of AISIN Parts: Gather information as needed from TMNA Plano Associates to support AWA Sales Managers and N.A. Plants with key variance or option rate issues of current mass production parts. Learn reasons for variance and future plans of Toyota and share information internally in AISIN.
  • Auto Market Update Japanese Presentation to Executives (monthly): 30-minute Japanese only meeting to share auto market and TMNA production update and any TMNA hearing update for AWA CEO and EVP before they meet with AISIN HQ President. Support Q&A and follow-up requests for Executives to better understand the current auto market situation.
  • TMNA Production Results - Forecast for Executives (Slides - Bilingual): track and document TMNA production by vehicle nameplate and assembly plant for prior month and 3-month forecast including variance to plan, NPD's and reasons, and other factors reported by Toyota.
  • HQ Operation Report (bilingual monthly): Summarize U.S. auto market situation, auto sales and production, Toyota sales and production with Y/Y variance, electrification share trend and auto maker volume, inventory, market share by OEM, vehicle segment trend, and gas prices. Make bilingual report and share with HQ.
  • S. Automotive Regulatory Update for Executives (bi-lingual): periodic (~2X/year) update of U.S. Federal and State automotive regulations situation and updates in English and Japanese. Engage with ATC-A Associates to learn latest EPA and NHTSA U.S. Federal and State CARB ZEV regulation updates focused on fuel economy, emissions, autonomy, and safety. Assessment of TMNA strategies and plans to meet regulations. Create summary slides and presentation to AISIN Executives.
  • Executive Requests & Special Reports (As-needed): Periodically support information gathering, research, and analyses requests to support Sales and Sales Planning Executives & Management including creation of summary reports and presentation of findings.
  • Support AWA Sales Planning Department Team Core Deliverables (As-needed): Long Term Sales Plan, Annual Sales Plan, Focal Product Strategies, New Product Exposition, New Product Planning & Promotion, Strategic Alignment with AISIN HQ, Market Research Projects/Clinics, Auto Market Research including Auto Shows & conferences, BDM Presentations market research support (Business Decision Meetings), Sales & Sales Planning process Kaizen, HQ Japan interactions/communications, etc.

Required Skills and Abilities

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years working in auto industry (sales, marketing, planning, purchasing, or related field for Tier 1 supplier or auto maker).
  • Highly proficient & experienced bi-lingual Japanese and English (verbal and written including translation)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills (English and Japanese)
  • Experience in proactively building relationships with auto maker customers
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to take initiative
  • Proficient at information gathering, analysis, making reports, and presenting to higher management
  • High attention to detail

Beneficial Skills and Experience

  • Good understanding of the U.S. Automotive Market (brands, segments, vehicles, trends, news, etc.)
  • Familiar with Toyota vehicle line up, assembly plants, and organization in North America
  • Familiar with automotive parts that make up a vehicle

Education/Training/Certifications

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook
  • BA/BS in business, marketing, economics, finance, or equivalent training
  • Microsoft Office product proficiency also in Word & Outlook

Work Environment Requirements

  • Must be able to operate a personal computer, telephone and other office equipment.
  • Must perform job duties onsite, except those duties that are customarily or by their nature performed offsite (for example, offsite customer visits).
  • Must be able to work effectively in a fast paced environment where constructive criticism is encouraged.
  • Must be able to work on multiple assignments at once, and complete assignments within deadline and budget (if applicable) with satisfactory quality.
  • Must be able to operate as an effective team member.
  • Must be committed to a high standard of safety and be willing and able to comply with all safety laws and all company safety policies.
  • Must be able to meet often with Toyota Management at TMNA Plano on a regular basis (~1X/week).
  • Must be comfortable working in a small AWA satellite office with few employees.

Attendance/Work Hour Requirements

  • Must maintain an acceptable attendance record.
  • Must be willing to work 37.5 hours per week minimum, plus other hours of the week as necessary to meet business needs.
  • Must be willing and available to work weekends and holidays as necessary and desirable to meet business needs.

Travel Requirements

  • Approximately 10-15 % (Texas to AWA Detroit ~3X/4X per year, Texas to Japan ~1X/year, possibly to select Auto shows and conferences ~3X/year)
  • Must be willing and available to travel to such locations and with such frequency as is necessary and desirable to meet business needs.
