Position Summary

Function as liaison, primary window person, between Aisin North American Plant (NAP) and the customer. Responsible for accurate and timely quality reporting from the customer's location (daily, weekly, monthly reports as assigned). Assist in KPI gap closure for various metrics (quality/shipping). Support trouble shooting activities of quality issues during root cause analysis problem solving activity. This position will receive commodity training, QRE/QRS training on an ongoing basis to foster deep understanding of parts and processes (locations to include NAP, customer facility, Aisin Corp and other sites as needed). Tools will be provided to support quality analysis.

Position Responsibilities

The incumbent is expected to perform the following functions that the company has determined are essential to this position:

  • Represent Aisin at the customer's location (prompt response to issues/concerns)
  • Support of all Aisin products
  • Follow up / confirmation of Customer quality condition, verify defect occurrence and ensure clear problem description is captured on document as well as the applicable standard per Inspection Standard and/or print specification
  • Investigate quality issues at customer site and facilitate communication between customer regarding all matters of concern related to quality and shipping (KPI) utilizing applicable Inspection Standards, print specs, boundary samples and/or vehicle condition confirmation
  • Work closely with Quality Management and Quality Specialists (Customer & North Aisin Plants(NAP)) to spearhead/support Customer Quality concern resolution
  • Support corrective action development with goal of eliminating repeats of occurrences, assist in QPR/QIR closure, address past due sort resolution, PCR coordination, scrap investigation/monitoring and support investigation at Customer and NAP location as needed (deep dive)
  • Assist in determining countermeasure effectiveness and next steps to address gaps between NAP performance and actual
  • Recognize and escalate quality issues appropriately within organization and according to severity
  • Conduct receiving part inspection of product within RI as allowed (regular product audits with feedback)
  • Ongoing update of QRE/QRS reports and other reports assigned (daily, weekly, etc.)
  • Hands on rework may be required (time and situation dependent - depending on scope and availability - primary goal is onsite management, oversight of this activity by customer approved third party - confirmation of related work instructions is key)
  • Responsible for supervising temporary personnel and/or team members deployed from NAP's during sorts and/or rework
  • Coordination of courier shipments as needed
  • Function as liaison, primary window person keeping lines of communication open between Aisin and Customer
  • Support best practices deployment
  • Regular visits to NAP's to continuously develop/improve understanding of part and processes
  • Other tasks and duties as assigned

Required Skills and Abilities

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • 5 years of automotive experience - preferably related experience with a Tier 1 automotive supplier working directly with automotive OEMs
  • Ability to work in a team to resolve issues
  • Ability to be assertive while maintaining a positive and professional approach at all times
  • Ability to interpret blueprints and inspection standards
  • Ability to use basic geometry and statistics
  • Ability to use inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers and height gages
  • Ability to interpret boundary samples
  • Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills are essential
  • Ability to perform statistical analysis / measurement analysis
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to function well independently

Beneficial Skills and Experience:

  • Previous direct Toyota experience is a plus
  • Practical experience with ASQ Certification (CQT, CQE, CQM, etc.) preferred

Education/Training/Certifications

  • Technical degree preferred (Bachelor or Associate degree)
  • ASQ Certification (CQT, CQE, CQM, etc.) preferred
  • Formal training in the Quality Assurance Field
  • Intermediate level or greater skills with MS Office Tools

Work Environment Requirements

  • Must be able to operate a personal computer, telephone and other office equipment.
  • Must perform job duties onsite, except those duties that are customarily or by their nature performed offsite (for example, offsite customer visits).
  • Must be able to work effectively in a fast paced environment where constructive criticism is encouraged.
  • Must be able to work on multiple assignments at once, and complete assignments within deadline and budget (if applicable) with satisfactory quality.
  • Must be able to operate as an effective team member.
  • Must be committed to a high standard of safety, and be willing and able to comply with all safety laws and all company safety policies.

Attendance/Work Hour Requirements

  • Must maintain an acceptable attendance record.
  • Must be willing and available to work such weekends and holidays as necessary and desirable to meet business needs.

Travel Requirements

  • Approximately 20%
  • Must be willing and available to travel to such locations and with such frequency as is necessary and desirable to meet business needs.
  • Must have personal vehicle to travel as position requires
  • Must be able to travel internationally
