Summary:

Assists Human Resources Vice President in the overall administration, coordination, and evaluation of the Human Resources function.

Position Responsibilities

The incumbent is expected to perform the following functions that the company has determined are essential to this position:

  • Communicates regularly with HR section managers and vice president of Human Resources about departmental issues
  • Establishes and maintains effective relationships with other management staff, along with team leaders and team members
  • Plans, organizes, and has responsibility for all activities of the department
  • Participates in developing annual department goals, objectives, and systems
  • Prepares, reviews, and rewrites job descriptions (when necessary), including an analysis of exempt and non-exempt functions
  • Develops, recommends, and implements personnel policies and procedures; prepares and maintains team member manual on policies and procedures, performs benefit administration to include claims resolution; annually re-evaluates policies for cost-effectiveness
  • Conducts new employee orientation, monitors career path program, employee relations counseling, and exit interviewing; writes and places advertisements for employment
  • Establishes and maintains department records and reports; participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings, such as seminars; maintains company organization charts and employee directory
  • Evaluates reports, decisions, and results of department in relation to established goals recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvement in efficiency of department and services performed
  • Maintains knowledge of compliance with federal and state legislation pertaining to all personnel matters; communicates changes in relevant laws to Human Resources Vice President
  • Consults with legal counsel as appropriate and/or as directed by Human Resources vice president on personnel matters
  • Works directly with department managers to assist them in carrying out their responsibilities concerning personnel matters
  • Prepares, recommends and maintains records and coordinates work between employees and insurance carrier
  • Monitors unemployment claims and appeals
  • Monitors workers compensation claims and coordinates work between employees and insurance carrier
  • Prepares, analyzes, and oversees the budget for the Human Resources department
  • Prepares and reviews statistics with regard to labor costs, hours of work (overtime and regular), and other relevant information
  • Conducts training of team leaders, managers, and other supervisors in regard to Human Resources issues
  • Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned

Competencies (Optional)

  • Complete and pass with 70% or greater DOJO safety training within first 30 days
  • Advance level in Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Complete and pass with 70% or greater SMPO training within first 30 days and annually as required
  • Complete AISIN Management training within first year, then annually as required

Education/Training/Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 10 years of HR management experience
  • Bachelor's degree in human resource management or related field and 8 years of HR Management experience
  • Master's degree in human resources management or related field and a minimum of 6 years HR Management Experience
  • Automotive or Manufacturing background and experience preferred

Work Environment Requirements

  • Must be able to operate a personal computer, telephone and other office equipment
  • Must perform job duties onsite, except those duties that are customarily or by their nature performed offsite (for example, offsite customer visits)
  • Must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment where constructive criticism is encouraged
  • Must be able to work on multiple assignments at once, and complete assignments within deadline and budget (if applicable) with satisfactory quality
  • Must be able to operate as an effective team member
  • Must be committed to a high standard of safety and be willing and able to comply with all safety laws and all company safety policies

Attendance/Work Hour Requirements

  • Must maintain an acceptable attendance record
  • Potential extended hours (i.e. over 40 hours)
  • Must be willing and available to work such weekends and holidays as necessary and desirable to meet business needs

Travel Requirements

  • Around 20 - 25% travel
  • Will travel to other Shiroki facilities and sister companies
  • Must be willing and available to travel to such locations and with such frequency as is necessary and desirable to meet business needs.
